Thursday, 10/26/00. 2400 hours.
It's midnight, and I'm tired, but I've already skipped a day so I have to write some stuff down before I forget. Yesterday, after our usual commute to Internet World, Mark and I managed to get separated. We wandered around the Expo all day by ourselves until he caught me sitting down counting my T-shirts. I've amassed quite a collection of free shirts...and balls and pens and keychains...the list goes on. Yesterday I ate a late lunch / early dinner at McDonalds. Was unable to pull any cash out all day due to a bad debit card. This is the second card that has become unavailable to me here while in New York...thankfully, I have one last card in my wallet that works. Anywayz, Mark and I halfheartedly watched the Mets / Yankees game from the motel restaurant last night and then went to bed early. Spent most of today perusing the Expo again. Found a whole new level of booths that we still haven't visited. Going to take three days to hit everything. Too bad the speakers haven't been any good. Former Secretary of the Treasury Robert Rubin stumbled through a speech this morning...pretty pathetic for someone who has been a public speaker for his entire life. After the Expo, we ate at the Times Square Brewery - which is about the most prominent restaurant in Times Square. Kind of run down, but a neat place with a great view. After dinner we stopped at a small theatre and took in their 'grand opening' show. It was a 'political Burlesque' which I learned is roughly the equivalent of a parody. Very interesting - both the locale and the play. The performers and the audience were very interesting as well - all mostly from NYU. Chatted it up with several of them afterwards. Very impressed with the people in NYC so far. With one or two exceptions EVERYONE has been super nice and easy to talk to. Kind of shattered my stereotypes. In other news, the Yankees won the Series last night, so I'm expecting to be inundated tomorrow with free newspapers declaring them the winner. I'll have to pick up a few for souvenirs. Go Yankees.
I don't have any pictures of the last few days to make available. Mark hasn't taken many with the digital camera (photography forbidden at the Expo) and what few he has are on another disk. Maybe later. I think that's become my standard answer as of late. Anywayz, all for now. Must get some sleep.
